This guide provides instructions to reduce the size of Video Files
ready for submission as a part of your assessment

  1. To upload the assessment, we want to first compress the video to a size which will fit the upload size limit (128 MB). Go to the following link https://handbrake.fr/ and click on ‘Download Handbrake’.

Continue through the download process and install the program on to your device. (You may also need to install .NET system software to run this application,... just follow the default steps)

  2. Once installed, open Handbrake and you will be presented with the screen below. On the left navigation tab, click on ‘File - Open a single video file’

  3. Locate where you saved your Video Assessment file and click ‘Open’. Once opened, you will be presented with the following screen. On the left of the screen, make sure the ‘Format:’ drop down box is set this to ‘MP4’

  4. Click on the ‘Video’ tab, make sure your video encoder is set to H.264 (x264) and leave the Framerate (FPS) at its current setting. Under Quality, the Content Quality Slider is what controls your file size output. Try an Encode with the current settings and if the file is still too large, lower the quality by dragging the slider to the left. Once that is all set, click on Browse and choose a location to save your compressed file.

  5. With all those settings in place, click on ‘Start Encode’ and wait for the file to finish encoding.

  6. Check where you saved the encoded file and view the file size. If still too large to upload, complete the process from Step 3 again and reduce the Quality at Step 4

YOU CAN NOW UPLOAD!
